Sunny Rhyl Allotment - 2007 |

|
31/05/2007 Everything has now been planted out and progress is steady but slow. With the chickens now free-ranging, I had to beef up the defences for the Sweetcorn..
Newly planted out, the Leeks were trimmed and droped into 'dibbed' holes. Against my better judgement, I have planted out the Celery and will look upon this as a learning experience.
The Dwarf French Beans are looking very robust. Flowers are forming. I decided to try to be clever and utilise some of the chicken manure and spent straw as a mulch. I have since been advised that the un-rotted manure may cause me problems. We'll see :)
In the last few days, the Broccoli has really started to move.
More beefing up of defences! The container area has been made chicken proof(I hope !).
I wiped Wilko's out of builders buckets(99p each). I have planted the 2nd batch of Potatoes in these.
Everything else is making steadt progress. The established Potatoes are the most notable. The lone Aubergene plant seems well as do the both the Runner Bean and Tomato Wig-Wams..
Slow progress for the other Tomatoes, Squash, Gherkin and Cucumber.
The Tumbler Tom's look like giving the Strwberries a good run for their money in the first fruiting race. The Bell Peppers are still tiny, but healthy.
Weeding and watering aside, it is now time to sit back and wait ! Happy Days!!
