A wrecking trip off Amlwch was todays plan.

For a change, the weather was kind to us. The trip got the green light the night before, so with an early start, we made our way to Anglesey.

Sailing time was just before high water, so we had the luxury of boarding our boat via the steps rather than the ladders.

First stop was just off Point Lynas to get some Mackerel for bait.

The Mackerel were patchy to say the least. We had a few and headed out.

We anchored up and dropped down a variety of rigs.

Some went for the big hooks. Some opted for scratch rigs.

The little hooks were busy from the off.

Loads of tiny Whiting, Dogfish, Pouting, Poor Cod and the occasional Bull Huss.

Lee was off the mark with a Pouting.

Al had a fish take line on his Mackerel Flapper. It turned out to be a small Bull Huss.

Some nice Tub Gurnards were landed.

I had a Poor Cod. That'll do for the species count :)

It has to be said that with such deep water, it was a bit disheartening at times to haul up 8oz's of lead 160ft only to find a pin Whiting on. Thats fishing though :)

Next up, we moved off shore to find a few deep water wrecks.

Drifting was the plan, so Most of us switched to Jellyworms, but the occasional Hokai trace was tried out.

Al had a Coalfish to start the preceedings.

Surprisingly, Sinbad found a Red Gurnard had taken a liking to his white Jellyworm.

James had a good take that led to him landing a nice Pollack.

James also had a massive bite later on. He hung on well and had the fish well under control until it eventually managed to free the hook.

We'll never know what it was or how big, but I didn't see a rod bend that much all day.

Not to be outdone, Al had a decent Pollack too.

The skipper was kept busy. We drifted about a dozen wrecks in all.

We caught on most, but if it was quiet, Pat would move us straight onto another one.

Sinbad had a few nice fish today.

Tom Yam soup will be on the menu for me tomorrow. A good Pollack saw to that.

Wes had been into the Pollack from the off. He was consistantly catching good fish.

Best fish of the day went to Lee with a 6lb Pollack.

It had been a great days fishing.

The bottom fishing was good, albeit with mainly small stuff.

The drifting however was great. With over 30 Pollack caught between the 6 of us.

The Skipper did a great job, constantly keeping us over fish.

Sinbad took the wheel for the journey home.

Species caught today were..........Mackerel, Dogfish, Bull Huss, Whiting, Por Cod, Pouting, Tub Gurnard, Red Gurnard, Coalfish, Pollack.

Happy Days!!!!!
