'The Brickie' has served several roles for the Rhyl community in it's lifetime.

As a quarry, starting in 1860 as the Brickfield Works, it supplied distinctive high quality dense red bricks to the Victorian construction industry.

Most local houses and buildings of the era were built with these bricks.

They were successfully 'exported' and a good chunk of North Wales and the North West of England still exhibit properties with a high sheen red brick eminating from the Brickfield Works.

In more recent times, the industrial nature of this site has been lost and what remains now is designated a nature reserve and is referred to locally as the Brickfield Pond.

Having been adopted by a local angling club and stocked with some decent fish, the Brickie is now a noted carp venue. Fish to 30lb's are on offer along with most other species to suit all.

Today, The Brickie appeals to families out for a stroll, anglers interested in bagging a decent catch, dog walkers, bird watchers and conservationists.

A large slice of local history is attatched to this site and it is heart warming to see it remain as an asset to the local community to this day.

Happy Days!!!!
