Burton Mere - 06/04/2007 |

Venue - Burton Mere, Wirral I joined Wes for my first ever Carp fishing trip. Burton Mere is a venue he knows well. Hopes were high that between us we would see some action.
Wes had 2 rods out, both baited with Luncheon Meat. Carp or Catfish were his intended target.
I had 1 rod out looking for a biggie and the other rod was used for some generel float fishing.
I was disappointed that the shop at the lake had no maggots available. Sweetcorn would have to do. As appears to be the way with Carp fishing, all was very quiet for a very long time.
There were about 30 people fishing the lake and there was no sign of anyone having any luck. Even my float fishing efforts were to no avail. I had a good few bites but nothing hooked.
After about 6hrs, Wes finally had a run. Unfortunately, the fish escaped the hook. That was it. 8hrs and no fish! I did see some lad catch a double figure Mirror and thus proving that there were actually fish in the lake. I am looking forward to getting back on a beach pretty soon for some 'proper' fishing :) Happy Days!!!!!
