Wes and his brother spent a weeek in Spain fishing for the Wels Catfish.
They booked an all inclusive trip with AL and Martin of www.ebro-catfishing.com. Accomodation was a fantastic Villa just outside L’Ampolla. All transfers and 1 weeks guided boat hire was included. Livebaited Mullet and Carp of around 1-2lb were the
bait for the week. A big scream on the reel and 10 minutes later, a monster of 106lb was landed.
Wes's first fish here was 65lb.
Next fish was 124lb which roared off in the fast flowing water and almost stripped his Penn multiplier. He photographed this fish on the bankside with numerous locals watching on in amazement.
The fish kept coming. An average of 3 fish each per day. Some 'tiddlers' up to 50lb, lots to 100lb and a few beyond. The highlights were the 124lb fish as well as fish of 100lb, 113lb and 120lb(all shown below). Just creeping into triple figures, this 100lb fish was caught on Crucian Carp.
Mullet was used for this 113lb specimen.
The final fish of the week was a nice 120lb male.
A great weeks fishing and a great way to escape the (lack of) Brittish summer. An alternative to fishing for the mini species :) Happy Days!!! For more information about fishing the river Ebro, please take a look at www.ebro-catfishing.com
