Kinmel Bay - 09/10/2006 |

Venue - Kinmel Bay With strong westerly winds and a big tide, I was hopeful that this venue might produce. I parked in the free car park (the beach side of ASDA). I fished 100yds to the west of the access gate.
The surf was crashing in. I used an 8oz gripper to keep my 2 hook clip down rig on the sea bed. Both 2/0 hooks were baited with fresh lug. I bought the lug from Geoff's in Rhyl, and nice it looked too.
I fished 2 hrs before to 2 hrs after high. Time to have a ciggie and wait and see.............
The wind was making my rod tip dance about. I felt that bite detection was going to be an issue today.
That was until I had a definate knock that resulted in a nice little doggie 1hr before high.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky today.
Next cast and I barely had time to pour a cuppa when a spotted another bite out of the corner of my eye. An easier retrieve this time, so I wasn't convinced that I had anything on until a small school bass emerged from the surf.
After safely unhooking him, I returned him and set about looking for his big brother. 30 minutes later I found him!!!!!! Only slightly bigger, but I was heading in the right direction. This time the bite was more defined. The rod was bouncing around and then the line went slack. Again the surf kept the identity a mystery until out popped schoolie snr.
Probably just shy of a pound, so again he was returned to fatten up for Sinbad next summer. I spent the last hour setting my mind on a fish supper. Unfortunately that was it though. I had to satisfy my needs by buying 2 cod steaks from ASDA! Great fun! Who needs a Kayak!!!!!!!!!
