Bait: Yellow Tails, Pilchard Oil

Sinbad, Rick and I returned to the same low water mark that has produced good sized bass for all 3 of us over the last 3 weeks.

It was a fairly big tide with a SW wind. Not text-book bass conditions for this mark but we were hopefull.

Rick came armed with his secret weapon, a jar of 10 year old pilchard oil. With our fresh yellow tails dipped in this rancid liquer, we awaited the tide turning. Sinbad had a couple of knocks that stripped his bait.

I had a dogfish just after the turn. My first from a beach.

As usual, the retreat was frantic, with Sinbad losing a few pieces of kit to the tide. The legacy of this day will be the unbelievable stench of Rick's antigue pilchard oil that still lingers to date! Great fun.
