Kinmel Bay - 03/02/2007 |

Venue - Kinmel Bay I fished Kinmel Bay a couple of hours either side of high tide today. With no wind and intermittant sunshine, it was rather pleasant to be out. I just hoped the fish were up for it! I had the usual 2 rods out. One at range and the other close in.
I had bought 2 packs of fresh Lug from Geoff's Tackle Shop. This complimented a frozen Mackerel nicely.
I loaded a 3 hook flapper with Lug and Mackerel. This was cast as far as I could.
I was using a 2 hook flowing flattie rig for the close range setup. Again, combinations of the Lug and Mack were loaded up.
It was to be a waiting game today. Cast after cast, there were no signs of any activity. High tide came and went without a knock.
For no apparent reason, I decided to swap the flapper for a clipped down pennel rig. Loaded with a Lug and Mack coctail, this was cast out. With a more streamlined trace now onboard, I was adding quite a distance to my range. It wasn't long before I was getting a few small twitches. A few retrieves led to nothing. Maybe the 1/0 pennel hooks were too big for whatever was biting. Who knows :)
A few more casts and that was it. 3 nibbles, no fish landed. Happy Days!!
