Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Kinmel Bay - 12/11/2006

Venue - Kinmel Bay
Tide - High
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug, Frozen Sandeel

It was a small tide today. However, with a strong NW wind, there was a lot of water pushing my up the beach towards the spring tide mark. There was a strong surf and lots of colour in the water.

I bought 2 packs of lugworm from Geoffs Tackle Shop. The guys there told me of a report of a 7lb Bass from this very mark 3 days previously. Hopes were high :)

I was fishing 2 rods. Both the lug and sandeel were tried in various combinations across both rigs.

With such a strong surf, the problem I had was holding bottom. I was using the largest gripper lead that I had with me. The 6oz weight was holding for a few miutes, but with weed gathering along the line at an alarming rate, it wasn't long before my rig was tumbling along the shoreline.

I did persevere until 2 hours after high, but unfortunately I left empty handed. No noticeable bites all day :(

Happy Days!!
