Kinmel Bay - 15/06/2007 |

Venue - Kinmel Bay Our trip onboard Suveran was cancelled due to strong winds. It would have been a shame to waste all those fresh peeler Crabs so we decided to hit the Smoothound mark in Kinmel Bay. I was joined by Sinbad, Wes Rick and Simon. With a big tide, we were aiming to get right out beyond The Perch. Far enough to reach the Smoothies? Time would tell! We arrived at Sinbad HQ and got set up.
With Smoothound and Bass the target, Pennel rigs were the favoured tactic.
On route to the low water mark, we passed a scrum of Seaguls frantically feeding on something.
We decided to cast a line and see. Within seconds of casting, my rod was twitching! A Seagul had got snagged!!! After releasing him, we decided it was simply unfishable and moved on towards the intended mark.
Armed with the Fresh Crab, we cast out in hope of an elusive shore caught Smoothound.
Low water came and went without a knock. Having battled with weed, it was hard going. It was like dragging a double decker bus in cast after cast.
Sinbad and Simon swapping tips.
The weed continued, still without a bite.
An hour after low, the tide started to fly in This mark is fishable for 1hr either side of low. After that, the tide races in at such a pace making it both dangerous and unfishable. With no bites between the five of us, it was time for a sharp exit. Happy Days!!
