Llandudno Pier - 01/04/2007 |

Venue - Llandudno Pier Armed with a pack of fresh Lug and some smelly re-frozen Lug, I made my way via 'Zaks Kebab House' to Llandudno Pier.
On arrival, I found a bench and tucked into a large Donner, Salad, Chilli and Garlic Sauces. Very nice!!!!!!!!! I took a minute to marvel at the wonderful scenery.
I had my 2 boat rods with me tonight. An 8ft with an Abu 6500 and a 10ft Conolon uptider with a Penn 320 GTI.
I only had worm baits with me, so my plan, having heard that Mackerel had been showing on Anglesey, was to feather for a while. You never know !!! I dropped my first rod over the side with a 3 hook paternoster baited with lug. I blew the dust off a set of feathers and started to try my luck. It wasn't long before my ambitious plan started to pay dividends. The Mackerel were in and within a short space of time I had enough for bait and also a few fish suppers.
After a frantic 10 minutes, the baited rod started twitching. A Bream couldn't resist the smelly Lug offering.
I had baited the feathers with a combo of Lug and the fresh Mackerel. Within minutes of dropping down the side, it was action stations again! A Red Snapper gave a good account of itself before the power of the Penn reel got too much for it.
All went quiet for a while after. Giving me time to catch my breath and have a nice cup of coffee. Darkness approached.
Pretty soon after it was non stop action again. I had 3 Rockling in a row. All caught on Lug.
Then a couple of Pollack showed. No great size but it kept the momentum up.
By this stage, both rods were constantly twitching. Fish after fish was landed. I had 4 Codling. Again, no monsters. The largest was about 1lb.
The biggest fish of the night was a Dogfish.
A truly memorable session! The only other person fishing tonight was Pat. He had a mad hour like myself. In all, only 1 Pollack caught on the Mackerel, everything else was caught on Lug. The final tally was 4 Codling, 2 Pollack, 3 Rockling, 6 Mackerel, 1
Bream, 1 Red Snapper.
