Llandudno Pier - 27/07/2007 |

Venue - Llandudno Pier Plan A for the day was to take my Nephew on his first fishing trip. We were due to set sail on Suveran, but due to the strong westerly, our trip was cancelled. Plan B sprung into action and we headed to Llandudno Pier. Having picked up some Fresh Ragworm from Victoria Pier, we arrived at about 9am. There were already about 8 anglers out, so we found a space and set up. Small hooks and small baits dropped down the side mean't we were into fish from the off. Surprisingly, a Mackerel took my size 6 hook baited with Rag. It must have been the shiny floating bead that caught it's eye.
Shortly after, Ross had his first ever fish. A Corkwing Wrasse. Delighted he was too.
It was pretty constant for us both. Lots of Corkwings.
A few Pouting.
.... and some Pollack.
I put Ross onto feathers after a while and he was kept occupied with a steady stream of good sized Mackerel. The guy fishing next to us had a decent Huss of about 6lb. I saw others with Pollack, Dogfish and Mackerel. My best fish of the day was a Pollack approaching 1lb. However, I was fishing more for species than size.
The platform was comfortable. Busy, but not overcrowded.
Dave from the tackle shop was marshalling the platform. He was offering advice and helping set up some of the more occasional anglers. It was a nice atmosphere to fish in. With many of the anglers swapping both anecdotes and bait. Total for the day between us was 3 Pollack, 4 Pouting, 16 Corkwing and 14 Mackerel.
