Holyhead Breakwater - 10/06/2008 |

Venue - Holyhead Breakwater With an all day free pass, I headed back to Holyhead for a bit of general fishing and Mini Species hunting.
With the beachcaster and my Abu Conolon boat rod in action cast out, I also was using my little spinning rod dropped down the side. A couple of early knocks on the beachcaster resulted in a few small Whiting.
I lost a Dogfish (or small huss) on the lift and landed severel Spider Crabs that were giving light twitches. Other than that, the Lug/Mack/Crab baits were not having much success. On the spinning rod however, it was action from the off. With little hooks baited with either small sections of Ragworm or Peeler Crab legs, the bites were non stop. I had severel Corkwings.
A few Ballans.
A Goby of some description.
And a Sea Scorpion.
The Crab legs far outfished the small Rag offerings. The Mini Species really were good fun to catch. Not knowing what was going to appear next made for an interesting and enjoyable way to pass the hours. Total for the day was - 4 Corkwing Wrasse, 2 Ballan Wrasse, 1 Whiting, 1 Sea Scorpion, 1 Goby and a 2 Spider Crabs. Happy Days!!!
