Venue - Towyn Having blanked on my last 2 outings, I decided to try somewhere different tonight. I joined the holidaymakers on Towyn Beach. I had managed to get a small handful of worms earlier on in the day over low. Having heard that the Mackerel were showing along the coast, my plan was to fish 1 baited rod and feather periodically with the other.
Whilst feathering, out the corner of my eye, I saw a nice little rod bend on the baited rod. I dropped the beachcaster and took up the slack on the other rod. I was waiting for another twitch........ Nothing happened! I put the rod back on the tripod and carried on feathering. 5 minutes later, the same thing happened. I missed another good bite whilst messing around after the Mackerel. I reeled in and both baits were battered!
A few more casts later an again a decent bite. This time I was on hand to retrieve almost instantly. Fish on!!!!! I did have a twitchy moment when the line went slack, but I was relieved when I felt the weight on again. A Bass of about 2lb was landed, photographed and sent on his way.
The feathers didn't produce tonight. You have to try these things though :) I will be returning! Happy Days!!!
