Project Chicken - Feathers Returning! - 08/06/2007

"Give a Chicken a Chance"

All 4 of our hens are having a ball.

Every last inch of our garden has been surveyed an inspected by the ladies.

They are currently dividing their time between scratching under the bushes and grazing on the lawn.

We are averaging 3 eggs a day between the four of them.

The pecking order has been established and all 4 seem to be content with their position.

Their individual personalities are starting to shine through.

Of particular note has to be 'Bumpy'.

She is the smallest of the 4 hens. Her most notable feature has been her oven ready look.

With a very deshevaled appearance and no feathers at all on her back, she is instantly recognisable.

Having left the battery farm in such poor cosmetic condition, she has clearly had to fight for every last scrap of food in the cages.

She is a born survivor and a cutie to boot!.

It's official!!!!!!!!! Bumpy has now got 2 new tail feathers growing :)

With 3 feathers growing on her back, she is in with a chance of winning August's 'Best Dressed' competition.

The colour is returning to her comb, which I am reliably informed is a very positive sign.

All 4 hens have got new feathers growing. It is just great to see all of them turning the corner :)

Happy Days!!!
