Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Rhyl Charter - Suveran - 07/09/2007

Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 8 hrs
Bait: Frozen Lug, Frozen Squid, Fresh Mackerel, Ragworm, Feathers
Boat - Suveran
Skipper - Simon Parry

Todays charter was green lighted and we all headed down to the harbour to await Suveran.

Rhyl's fairground has now closed and is due for demolition over the next few months.

All aboard, we headed out to see what was out there.

The most used trace today was the 3 hook flowing scratch rig.

We dropped anchor and were soon joined by another fisherman.

The fishing was steady. With Mackerel showing in numbers and any amount of Dabs being taken mostly on worm baits.

Wes with one of many small Tub Gurnards

For a moment Wes thought he was into something big.

He was.

A rock of about 6lbs!!!

I had been up until midnight the night before boiling up 10lb of rice. It's a killer groundbait for Black Bream apparantly.

Over slack water, we dropped it down.

With small Lug and Rag offerings on small hooked paternosters, we tried the theory out.

No luck though :)

There was one Black Bream landed today, but this was before the groundbait was used.

The scratch rigs were busy.

A Dab and Grey Gurnard combo for me.

Lee with a good Red Gurnard.

A couple of string full's.

I had a good run that didn't develop, but Lee managed the only Tope of the day.

Simon prepared us some fantastic Mackerel butties for tea. Lightly fried in butter, they were to die for!!!!!!

After a great days fishing we headed back in.

It had been yet another amazing day onboard Suveran. Having fished 3 different marks, Simon kept the fish coming all day.

The only thing left for me was to head home via 'Eastern Delights' and tuck into a great 'Rusholme' Donner!

Species caught today were..........Pouting, Poor Cod, Mackerel, Bream, Dab, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Tub Gurnard, Whiting, Dogfish, Weever, Tope.

Happy Days!!!!!
