Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Rhyl Charter - Suveran - 19/10/2007

Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 5 hrs
Bait: Frozen Lug, Fresh Lug, Fresh Mackerel
Boat - Suveran
Skipper - Simon Parry

Sinbad and I arrived at the slipway for a 5hr trip on Suveran.

Just an hour earlier we had both been in work when we got the call from Simon inviting us on a cheeky little 5hr session.

After a brief 10 second debate, the sound of screeching tyres and the smell of burning rubber signalled that it was 'Trip on'!

A bright sunny Autumn day had delivered flat calm conditions.

We anchored up inshore and dropped down a variety of worm and fish baits. Scratch rigs were the order of the day.

The bites were instant.

The Whiting had definately arrived in numbers.

The Dabs were few and far between. When they did show, they were decent sized.

Surprisingly, only 2 Dogfish were landed all day. This one fell to fresh Lug.

Ian had the only Pouting of the day.(or was it a Poor Cod?)

The Crab Trap had been down. A few crabs and a couple of Dabs were the only things caught.

I never tire listening to fishermans tales.

Having been fishing from the age of 2, Simon kept the tales coming!

We spotted a scrum of Seagulls feeding about half a mile away. We quickly upped anchor and headed to see what all the fuss was about.

Nothing as it happens. Whatever had interested the gulls had disappeared by the time we arrived.

Ian hooked a beautiful looking Starfish.

Usual services resumed when the Whiting re-appeared in numbers.

Aiden with another string full.

The weather had been kind to us. A great sunset just added to the occasion.

We arrived back in Rhyl Harbour having had a nice little session.

Sure beats working!!!!!!

Species caught today were..........Mackerel, Dab, Whiting, Dogfish and Pouting.

Happy Days!!!!!
