Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 7 hrs
Bait: Lug, Mackerel, Squid
Boat - Suveran
Skipper - Simon Parry
Fished a 7 hr trip out of Rhyl on Simon Parry's Suveran.
I took a stroll on the prom the night before to assess the weather. It was blowing a gale, with white horses disappearing to the horizon.
It was not looking good.
Next morning however, I was amazed to see how things had changed for the better. Got the all clear from the skipper. Trip on!!!!!!
Steve from Supreme soaking up some rays whilst waiting for his punters.

Tope was the target today.
We made our way to the windfarm, stopping halfway to get some mackerel.

Put down a bag of chum and waited..........
and waited............
and waited some more.........
All of a sudden, Rick's reel started screaming.

Fish on!!!! However, after a brief moment of panic, the line went slack.
The fish was lost.
We had a few other runs between us but these also led to nothing.
The Tope will have to wait until our next trip.
Moved to another mark. The general fishing was great.
Species caught were.......
Mackeral, Whiting, Codling, Dabs, Poor Cod, Grey Gurnard, Tub Gurnard, Dogfish, Huss, Weaver.
Del with a great Tub.

Steve, the Huss-Meister rarely disappoints.

Simon with a Huss just shy of 10lb.

I lost a good size Huss by the side of the boat. Gutted!!. Estimates had it in double figures. Would of been my first Huss and also my best fish ever, by some margin!!!
My spirits picked up with a good sized Gurnard.

A great day out. We will be back in 2 weeks, weather permitting, to resume our quest for Tope.
Happy Days!!!
