Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Marina Wall , Rhyl - 05/11/2007

Venue - Rhyl, Marina Wall
Tide - 1Hr after High
Time - Day
Bait: Frozen Lug, Frozen Mackerel

Having spent the last few hours braving the strong winds on Kinmel Bay beach without anything to show for it, I decided to relocate to Rhyl Marina Wall for the last hour of the session.

Fishing 1hr after high, Fluke and Eels were the intended target.

1 rod was fished with a trusty 3 hook flapper baited with both frozen Lug and Frozen Mackerel.

The rod was twitching within seconds. Sadly it was just the infamous crabs have a field day.

My 3 baits were lasting 5 minutes at most. When the rod stopped twitching, the bait was gone and it was the signal from the crabs for their next course.

Who was I to deny them their fun!

I got the flask out and had a nice cuppa and a chuckle to myself.

What do I have to do to break this seemlessly neverending series of blanks?

I was just about to pack up for the day when Seajunky turned up and introduced himself. We were having a good natter about fishing and kayaks when the unbelievable happened.

I had a good old fashioned knock!

I reeled in and there was definately something on. A hyperactive Flounder broke the surface and was eventually lifted up the wall.

Wow!!!!!

This was the first fish I had caught in 11 beach fishing sessions.

Thats 44 hours or 2640 minutes to be precise!!!!

You know what though...................

I have enjoyed every single minute!

This 1 modest fish brought so much enjoyment, you would not believe it.

We all aspire to catch a fish, but the pleasure of being out taking in the freshest air in the land really makes you feel alive.

If it takes another 44 hours to catch the next fish then so be it. I will still be out there trying!

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
