Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Marina Wall , Rhyl - 09/09/2007

Venue - Rhyl, Marina Wall
Tide - 2Hrs after High
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug

It's not every day that a new venue becomes accessable to the sea angler, so I was keen to have a look at the recent developments in Rhyl harbour.

Phase 1 of the marina development is nearing completion. With the extension of the access road, the new wall is fishable.

When the fences are eventually removed, it may well be a fish from your car experience.

On offer here are Fluke and Eels. Or, for the more adventurous, some monster Mullet.

Today, I was using a 3 hook paternoster baited with fresh Lug and cast 20yds out.

I was using my little spinning rod with 10lb mono.

With so little line out, I was able to see everything single slight knock.

The knocks turned out to be crabs. Loads of them!!!

My 3 baits were getting stripped literally within minutes!

After 2hrs, I had not had a fish-like bite.

Time to pack up and head home.

Despite the blank, this is a really pleasant place to fish.

Word has it that there are Flounder to 4lb+ and masses of Eels here, so I will be returning.

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
