Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Marina Wall , Rhyl - 11/11/2007

Venue - Rhyl, Marina Wall
Tide - High
Time - Day
Bait: Frozen Lug, Frozen Mackerel, Frozen Crab, Salted Lug

A strong North Westerly mean't that the beach was looking pretty much unfishable. I headed for the shelter of the harbour.

I raided the freezer and came armed with Frozen and Salted Lug, Frozen Mackerel and Frozen Peeler Crab.

I broke the tip on my Berkley Cherywood Spinning Rod whilst packing the car. I switched the reel onto a 12ft Abu Enticer.

The lug was first out. A 3 hook flapper was used with a little 2oz bomb.

The crabs were active as usual, but despite this I did have a good solid knock that didn't develop.

By now, the crab had defrosted.

I was fishing Lug, Crab and Mackerel on each of the 3 hooks.

First cast and a good bite within seconds.

A Silver Eel couldn't resist the Crab!

The sound of the RNLI warning flare signalled the start of the 2 minutes silence for Rememberence Day. I put the gear down and reflected on a few things.

Back to the fishing and things were quiet for a while over high.

A bizarre sight was about 30 apples gently bobbing past me one after another.

Was this a post Halloween game that was finally making it's way from the party upstream to the open sea?

Was it Notbadlad groundbaiting the swim after reading some obscure fact about Mullet's feeding habits?

Was someone trying to hit me with an apple?

Half an hour after high water, I had another decent bite.

This time it was a Flounder. Again, the Crab was doing the business.

2 fish in one day!

Things are definately looking up :)

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
