Venue - Rhyl, Splash Point
After weeks of slight easterly winds, it was with great surprise to find a strong wind blowing with a fairly hefty westerly component.
This provided a decent surf and a strong colour in the water.
With 2 beachcasters armed with 2 hook flappers, I cast out fresh lug and waited for some action.
The wind and surf made bite detection all but impossible. The 4oz grippers were holding, but weed was to be a pain today. An hour before low, a rebaiting retrieval surprised me when I found a Silver Eel attatched to the bottom hook. My first of the year.
My Gemini unhooking tool paid for itself with a humane and effortless release of the Eel. I braved the elements for 3 more hours. With no bite detection, it was reel in and hope. Unfortunately, there were no more takers.
Total for the day was 1 Silver Eel. Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
