Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Bait: Fresh Lug, Smelly Lug

Having tried the delights of Smelly Lug a few weeks ago with little success(not smelly enough apparantly!), I headed to Splash Point armed with 2 week old worms that were definately stinking. How could I fail!

I arrived 2 hours before low and decided to fish a spot that I had surveyed over last last weeks big tide. A gulley had emptied completely and I was able to note a few features that hopefully would stand me in good stead today.

There was a slight southerly wind which made for pleasant fishing conditions. The sea was approaching flat calm.

I set up 2 rods and baited up 2 hook flappers on both.

I cast out and then set about pumping some fresh Lug to compliment the smelly stuff.

All was quiet until dead on low water. A couple of small knocks signalled a couple of small Dabs. Both taking a shine to the rotting Lug.

Success!!!!!!

Although the other rod was now twitching, again 2 Dabs, this time taken on the fresh Lug.

For the rest of the session, I stuck with the fresh worms.

A few more Dabs were taken before a lone Whiting plucked up the courage to take a nice fat worm.

All went quiet again until on my last cast I reeled in a Weever.

Total for the day was 7 Dabs, 1 Whiting and a Weever.

All in all, a really enjoyable session.

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
