Venue - Rhyl, Splash Point As a kid, I would fish here over high simply because that was what you did. That was in the days long before the boulders were placed here, which made things easier. On a big tide, you could fish from the prom wall and dodge the breakers that gave this venue its name. Speaking to some more experienced local anglers, it appears that the construction of the outflow pipe by the golf course many years previous, altered the run of the gulleys, not to great effect. Having said all that, some decent fish still come out of here every year. It's all about putting the effort and the hours in! Armed with just my beachcaster, I was fishing a 3 hook flapper with Fresh Lug and Frozen Mackerel as bait.
It was pleasant conditions, but the fishing was slow.
The baits were coming back untouched, time and time again.
1 hour after high, a small twitch on the Warbird and a small Whiting was duly landed.
I had a few more casts, but with the water rapidly disappearing from my feet, I called it a day. A total of 1 Whiting had saved the blank. Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
