Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Splash Point , Rhyl - 26/03/2007

Venue - Rhyl, Splash Point
Tide - Low
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug, Fresh Mackerel, Fresh Squid

Having had the worst fry-up of my life served up to me in Morrisons(should have gone to Taffs!), they redemed themselves by having a great selection of fresh bait on their fresh fish counter. Fresh Herring, Mussels, Mackerel, Oysters, Tiger Prawns and 2 sizes of Squid.

Armed with some fresh Mackerel and large Squid, I headed to Geoff's tackle shop for some fresh Lug.

With the bait sorted, Splash Point was just a short drive away.

The beachcaster was set up along with my little spinning rod for close range work.

With 3 hook flappers all round, various combinations of the bait were tried.

Low tide came and went without a sniff!

It was a cracking day, which kept my mind off the lack of action.

At last, some company!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, on my last cast of the day, a small flounder took a fancy to a Mackerel offering at range.

That was it. Fantastic to fish in, if not for the quality of fishing, but just being out on an empty beach on a beautiful early summers day.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Rhyl is not without its issues, but don't believe everything you read. For the most part, Rhyl remains a well kept secret!!!!

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
