Sunny Rhyl Sea Fishing Diary

Splash Point , Rhyl - 29/05/2007

Venue - Rhyl, Splash Point
Tide - Low
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug, Frozen Lug

Having spent the last 12 fishing hours without so much as a bite, I had decided that positive thinking was going to be my saviour today.

I will catch a fish!!!!!!!!!!

With a strong NW wind, I decided to make life simpler by only fishing 1 rod.

A 3 hook flapper was loaded with a combo of re-frozen and fresh Lug.

Despite the wind, Splash Point was fishable. The sun made it a very pleasant experiance.

2 hours after low, I had a good knock.

I picked up the rod and started to retrieve.

The knocking continued and there was a good fish on.

Unfortunately I was cursed by my lack of reel maintenance when my line snapped with 50yds left out.

I will never know what the fish was, but if anyone catches a 3-5lb Bass in the next week with an orange shockleader attatched you know where she has been.

Next cast an a Dab mean't that my 12hrs without a fish was put to bed.

A couple of missed bites later and another 'tiny' knock led to a 'tiny' Bass. The smallest I have seen.

I had a pin Whiting on my last cast.

Not a bad day in the end. 3 fish, 3 species and thoughts of what might of been.

Total for the day was 1 Dab, 1 Bass + 1 Whiting.

Happy Days !!!!!!!!!!
