RNLI Rescue - Rhyl 10/08/2006

The coastguard received a call detailing 2 yachts having trouble entering Rhyl Harbour.

The Rhyl Mersey Class lifeboat, Lil Cunnigham was first on the scene. The Wind Farm Support Vessel, Offshore Provider also attended. The keel of one of the yachts was getting grounded, causing it to list with a real danger of being capsized.

Sea Anchors were deployed to aid the stability of both yachts. Lil Cunningham then proceeded to guide both vessels along the narrow channel entrance and into the safety of Rhyl Foryd Harbour.

Rhyl Inshore Lifeboat arrived to assist.

Much calmer in the harbour.

Job done - Tme to nip to the Mayquay for a swift shandy

Back to base for Lil Cunningham.

Offshore Provider opens up its twin Scania DI12 500 hp marine diesel engines as it leaves the harbour.
