Venue - Talacre Beach , Green Buoy
Tide - Low
Time - Day
Bait:
Lug, Mackerel, Peeler Crab, Sand Eel
Iain and I were invited by Del to fish the Green Buoy at Talacre over low water.
Having studied his Admiralty Chart, Del's eye's nearly popped out of his head when he saw the depth of this low water channel. At it's deepest, it is 60ft down at low water. There are not many beach venues with this depth of water within easy casting range. Surely this place was full of fish!!!
We arrived at the venue and were deterred from parking at the flood plain car park by the sign that stated that the gates would be locked at 8pm. Instead, we opted for the nearby pub carpark.

We headed out to the right hand side green buoy. It took about 10 mins to reach the waters edge by the green Buoy.

We fished 2 hours before to 2 hours after low. With this depth of water, we decided to cover all bases with a good variety of bait and rigs.
In all, we tried Lug, Mackerel, Peeler Crab, Sand Eel and combinations of all these.
Rigs used were 2 hook flappers (1/0 and 2/0), 4/0 Pennels, 2 hook clipdowns(2/0), 2/0 Hokki's, size 2 Shrimp Rigs and baited 4/0 Hokki's. You couldn't knock us for lack of effort!!!!

Fishing was slow. Very slow!!!!
For the 4 hours we were fishing, 4 trawlers were constantly zig zagging across this channel a few hundred yards to the east of us. Word has it that they have been hoovering up this venue for months now. Not the best sight for any shore fisherman to witness right in front of them.
To brighten the mood, a seal decided to have a nap on the beach right by us. Iain's bird watching stealth was evident as he got within 12ft of him to snap a few pics.

We ended up with 2 small dabs for our efforts.

Not the fish-fest we were hoping for but enjoyable nonetheless.
Definately a venue I will be revisiting.
